9th Day of Christmas 2013

12 days 9Day 9 – September 2013

Don’t let delay cause you to glamorize the bondage you just left. – Stacey Speller

Christians who have no enemies have not perfected the message of peace, but have perverted the message of righteousness. (Luke 20, John 15, Rom 12)

“Many church leaders unknowingly replace the transcendent vitality of a life with God for the ego satisfaction they derive from a life for God.” Skye Jethani

It is easy to be a spokesman against visible violence, but getting knee deep in the voltage of a man’s heart and rewiring his hurt, pain, fear, hate…is what brings about the peace that Christ came to give.

I’m not sure that Christians are aware, but Satan has already had his greatest hour and there are no rematches. It’s over!  But this is your hour, and the hour when the power of darkness reigns supreme. Luke 22:53

9.7.13 … started a new tradition of spiritual practice in my life communion in the early morning watches…started today at 330 am.

Not everything to be known about Jesus is in a sermon or even centuries of sermons.  Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. Luke 24:35

The economy of the kingdom is not monetary, but the employment of one’s gifts so that everyone is mutually built up.  your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. 2 Corinthians 8:14

The way of the world propagates many ways of salvation.

The Table & the Throne:  The House is a home when the Family gathers around the Table and the Father is sitting in his Chair.  They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. Psalm 36:8

Prayer of Humble Access

Most merciful Lord, your love compels us to come in. Our hands were unclean, our hearts were unprepared; we were not fit even to eat the crumbs from under your table. But you, Lord, are the God of our salvation, and share your bread with sinners. So cleanse and feed us with the precious body and blood of your Son, that he may live in us and we in him; and that we, with the whole company of Christ, may sit and eat in your kingdom. Amen.

I’m up early because the enemy is always out late.

Lord I fear that I may not remember to live by your Body and Blood as I move among the broken because of the interruption or inconvenience they may be to my self-centered schedule. – Pti

What’s for dinner the day after a miracle?…leftovers!  John 6:12-13

God became Man in the person of Jesus. Jesus in his essence is both God and Body & Blood.

IMAGINE…your life from the moment of your conception in the place you were fearfully & wonderfully made and your relationship to your creator-redeemer. You may not consciously rely upon him now, but every second for nine months you were totally dependent upon God. The knowledge of those days is recorded in your black box….your spirit. The DNA for a life of faith is built into each of us and the way to turn it on is to now consciously meet your God in the person of Jesus.  Fast forward to the delivery room on the day that you were born. If you can awaken your imagination you will be able to have total recall that not only was the doctor present, but the one who designed you was also he who delivered you.  A number of children may think they were unplanned, unwanted children, but nothing could be further from the truth.  “Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.” Psalm 71:6  On top of all that now think about being born, again…

Psalmodic Prayer…it lives in the tension of your public and private life, between your counting sheepeyes opened and your head bowed, between talking to God and talking to 2 or 3, between your social outlets and your closed closet, between reality and spirituality, between mad at God and at peace with God, between listening to a still small voice in your head and the tempest of anguish & enemies, between the radiation of cancer and the revelation of the crucified, between a moment of solitude and the groan of creation, between the passion to destroy and the restoration of reality, between their calm and your chaotic, between the tears of despair and the imagination of hope…

Prayer found in the Psalms is imperfect, messy, in the midst of, always present, not pretty…put away your pious, pretentious prayer and get down to the brass tax of prayer which is talking, listening and writing what is going on between you and God about life as it spills out of your guts.

There are two books in the Bible that are still “being written”…the Acts and the Psalms.

Bubble Wrap prayer is for the people whose porcelain figurine of God might shatter if they ever decided to get honest with him about life.  The Psalmist loves “to pop” bubble wrap!
